Empowering Flight Attendants
With a Modern Digital Experience
| |
The Air Canada Component (ACC) of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) has embraced a transformative digital journey in collaboration with DIT Web Solutions.
This initiative marks a renewed commitment to their more than 10,000 members—flight attendants from Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge—by delivering secure, user-friendly tools and a more responsive online presence.
Serving members based in major cities like Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, and Montreal, ACC CUPE’s digital ecosystem plays a vital role in how information is shared and how support is delivered.
| |
Their website isn’t just a public-facing platform—it’s a command center for communication, document access, and grievance management.
The goal? To ensure flight attendants have consistent access to critical resources wherever their routes may take them.
With this new digital foundation, uptime, speed, and security are prioritized. Whether it’s accessing collective agreements, updating documentation, or filing grievances, members can trust that the system will perform smoothly and safeguard their information.
Behind the scenes, dedicated technical oversight keeps everything running efficiently.
One of the standout advancements is a purpose-built mobile app designed specifically with flight attendants in mind.
Understanding that connectivity isn’t always guaranteed mid-flight or in remote areas, the ACC CUPE app is equipped with offline functionality.
| |
Once downloaded, key documents remain available—even without internet access—ensuring critical information is always just a tap away.
A new grievance management application has been created and successfully implemented, shaped directly by input from ACC CUPE leadership. This tool streamlines the grievance process, making it easier for members to file and track cases with clarity and confidence.
| |
The intuitive interface removes barriers and simplifies workflows, supporting faster resolution and better outcomes for all involved.
| |
From business-grade hosting to robust security protocols and responsive technical support, this digital evolution is about more than just tech—it’s about empowering union members with the tools they need to stay informed, protected, connected, engaged, and confidently heard in today’s fast-changing digital landscape.

The Air Canada Component of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), represents more than 10,000 flight attendants at Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge. Our members are based in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, and Montreal.
Air Canada’s Flight Attendants are highly trained professionals who play a key role in ensuring the safety and comfort of over 90,000 passengers who travel each day in Canada and around the world. Flight Attendants are the front-line for safety and security in the air. Our members are crucial to the business infrastructure of Canada.
Security of Canada’s aircraft and safety of the flying public is a top-of-mind issue for our members. We have a constant, vigilant focus on the safety and security of our passengers; a challenge we are well equipped to handle.

The early days of Canadian passenger flight were challenging—planes flew low, cabins weren’t pressurized, and oxygen was reserved for pilots. Flight attendants served coffee from a thermos and passengers stayed seated to conserve energy.
As aviation evolved, so did the role of the flight attendant. In 1948, independent unions joined to form the Canadian Air Line Flight Attendant’s Association, representing pursers and stewardesses. A year later, the first collective agreement was in place, and Canada was flying as far as Australia.
The 1950s and ’60s brought battles for better pay, working hours, and a growing focus on safety. In 1969, the government formally recognized the role of cabin crew in safety through new Air Navigation Orders.
During the 1970s, the union advocated for permanent protections and stricter safety enforcement.
The 1980s and ’90s saw airline strikes, privatization, and industry shakeups—but through it all, the union—now the Air Canada Component of CUPE—continued to defend the rights of flight attendants and the safety of passengers.
