James White did a presentation in the morning titled “Back to the Future”. He is a wonderful graphic design artist who has particular interests in movie poster and logo design.
James emphasized the importance of eye catching and edgy movie posters. He feels that a lot of movie posters now have lost their personality as they primarily are used to show just the lead actor and usually nothing related to the movie, while movie posters in the past such as Star Trek or Mad Max don’t emphasize the characters as much as they do the plot and theme of the movie.
He demonstrated in the end a very important lesson in design, which is never to standardize a stock format for designs, but to always strive to make something new and eye catching.
